I like to do a little reconnaisance on other DMs’ experiences running a published module before I start tweaking that published module to bits. There is often sage advice in forum posts. I also like to do a small portion of this reconnaisance before I do an in-depth read of the module, so I am paying attention to potential flaws they have fixed or things that went particularly well.

I’m currently running a heavily remixed Waterdeep Dragon Heist (“WDH”) game on FoundryVTT with 6 PCs. The PCs have expressed an interest in transitioning into Storm King’s Thunder (“STK”) after WDH is over. I’ve wanted to run STK for a few years now so that sounded great to me.

One of the ways I like to trade is by figuring out whether the big traders are accumulating long positions or short positions. Once they show their hand, I like to then enter alongside the big traders. I like to think of each trade like throwing a leaf into river rapids. The wind might blow my leaf around, but if I can land it on the river, it’s going to mostly follow the currents.
