Control Flames is the next cantrip that we’re looking at. It comes from the Elemental Evil adventure path for 5E. Read on for more information.
This cantrip can have situational use, assuming you have the opportunity to use it. Up to three of its effects can stack, which is nice. But, I still don’t see why you would choose this over another cantrip, such as Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation, or Druidcraft. Those three are useful in many more situations than Control Flames. If you’re trying to make a very specific character concept, you might want to choose it for flavor. But, there are other, better utility cantrips to choose.
My two cents about the cantrip is that it is a good spell to give to Elemental Evil NPCs and monsters but less useful for PCs. I have only barely skimmed Princes of the Apocalypse so I don’t know whether or not this is true.
