After the 2020 TCU game

Well, it’s clear that Tom Herman cannot get his subordinate coaches and players ready for teams that should be easily handled given our talent and resources.

Maryland twice. TCU every year. Almost losing to KU. And more.

2020 was supposed to be our year to win a BigXII championship. With an OU without a world-beating QB for the first time in many years.

The offensive play calling has all of the Tom Herman stink all over it we’ve seen the earlier seasons. Go ahead 3 points with a lot of time left? Turtle and call a bad run, a bad option play, and a screen pass.

  1. We are not an option running team. Those plays are dangerous at worst and mediocre at best. Get rid of them.
  2. Why run Ingraham at the goal line? He was as gassed as a running back could be. 50 yard sprint, then a 15-ish yard run.
    1. So many people are going to blame KI for the loss, but we should never have been in this position in the first place.
  3. We have spread offense personnel. Yet we still look to be attempting “bash bros” power spread. Kind of hard to power run when your offensive line can’t run block.
  4. Poor game-day management, poor coaching, and poor execution.
  5. And the most damning and largest piece of evidence I can point to for proof of his piss poor game management and lack of ability to adjust is Herman’s abysmal 2-12 record when trailing at the half. Either his plan during the week works, his players bail him out, or he loses.

But of course, he was extended and we have COVID as the mother of all excuses. I just hope it’s that Del Conte’s hands are tied by COVID financial issues instead of thinking Herman is “our guy”. If there is a call for donations to pay off Herman’s buy out, I’ll happily open up the checkbook.
