A football post was long overdue. I remarked to an old friend several times that our defense was pitching a fair game, and that occasionally our offensive series looked like they should the entire season.
And we still lost, even after multiple opportunities to put the game away. After a fake punt and a another bad attempt at a 4th-down conversion instead of guaranteed points.
A performance so bad that it led a journalist to ask Herman in his post-game presser (paraphrased): “why should the school keep you next season?” To which Herman said that was “not for him to decide.”
There were flashes where a Yurcich-controlled offense instead of a Yurcich-yoked-by-Herman offense shone through. Ash’s defense has improved steadily over the season. Yet, there is just this stink over the entire program. At this point, let Ash be the interim coach through the last few games and possible bowl game. The season is over; we’re not going to the conference championship game so there’s no more point.
It’s time for him to go. I’m not even mad anymore; I’m just now thoroughly convinced that it’s time for the Tom-Herman era of Texas football to end.
