Blade Ward is the next in our look at the 5E cantrips. To be perfectly honest, I’ve yet to see it used in a live game. There’s a good reason why I haven’t seen it in a game. Read on to find out why. Source Material Pages 218–19 Player’s Handbook. It’s not present in the basic rules. Classes Bard Sorcerer Warlock Wizard My Thoughts Take these comments with a grain of salt as I’ve never seen it used in game, whether as a player or as a GM.

Chill Touch is the next in our look at the 5E cantrips. It’s ok; depending on your campaign it may be quite strong. But I tend to prefer Ray of Frost or Firebolt over Chill Touch for a damage cantrip (assuming you’re not a warlock because warlock’s alone get Eldritch Blast). Read on to find out why. Source Material Page 221 Player’s Handbook. It’s not present in the basic rules.

Acid Splash is one of my favorite cantrips in 5E. Read on to see why it’s one of my favorites. Source Page 211 Player’s Handbook; it’s actually the very first spell listed in the handbook. Page 83 Basic Rules. Classes Sorcerer Wizard Thoughts First, you don’t need to roll an attack; the target makes a DEX save or takes 1d6 damage. This means you’re not worrying about min/maxing a particular ability point other than your primary spellcasting ability.
